Martin Kollie: A Rash Student Activist & Attention Seeker

    Part I

Take a good look at him. Not his weird eyes. He is one of the leaders of the University Student Unification Party (SUP). This is the only student group in the Republic of Liberia that has yet to come to grips that communist-styled military regalia, gears and costumes have out lived their relevance. Even today, I surmise Martin and his colleagues have not realized that communism and socialism have been crushed globally. But I can understand, it has not occurred to them that the SUPists of yesteryear used the Cuban military attire to herald their insatiable desire to make Liberia a communist nation. That foolhardy ideology is not only dead, but it is far-fetched and unattainable…not yesterday, not today.

Martin Kollie is indeed a young man, and I admire his energy, lest I realized he’s kooky, so are his irresponsible conclusions. Today, he branded me a CDCian without taking time to know me. For him, nobody should challenge his lies. For instance, he said in one his posts that President Weah was the only president who uses public funds to build a public structure and name it after himself. So, I thought to give him little history lesson. I reminded him of a couple of instances:
That Samuel Doe built the SKD Complex and named after himself; that Tubman built the WVS Tubman high school and named it after himself. Martin took offense and his best shot was to brand me a Weah supporter and a CDCian. In our exchange, Martin chose to insult me and posed a challenge to me that he would expose me soon. I want him to expose me now, so I am starting the war NOW. I gladly accept. Perhaps, Martin and his likes think they make important marks when they picket and allow innuendos to ooze out of their perky minds and spew insanity to the people around them. Being a student is one thing but being a rational and responsible one is quite another.

Where I live, students make research and come up with theories and data that national governments use to correct the errors of society. In my own situation, I have participated in some deep researches of bad laws in two states: North Dakota and Minnesota. The objectives of the researches are to identify laws that are not working, laws that have bad effects, and laws that can be changed but still maintain the overall root objective to make it work. Is that how Martin Kollie and his likes are proceeding at the University of Liberia? The college education is not about opening your mouth and screaming in the streets, lying about government hunting you just because you want to gain some asylum in the future. It is more about keeping a cool head, thinking the bigger picture that you are about to take national leadership soon. Unfortunately, Martin would carry himself getting drunk in night clubs and bars, only to accuse the government of attempting to kill him.

Watch out for part two. Martin, invite all the UL students to help you. I am on you now.
