    First Lady Clar Discusses Her Project with In-coming First Lady

    First Lady Clar Marie Weah on Thursday, January 18, welcomed the incoming counterpart, Mrs. Katumu Y. Boakai at the Executive Mansion as part of the ongoing transition process.

    The two distinct mothers of Liberia held a fruitful meeting during which they both expressed admiration for each other, stressing their respective passions for underprivileged citizens.

    During the frank engagement at the Executive Mansion’s Tea House, Mrs. Weah updated Mrs. Boakai about the various projects initiated under her watch as First Lady of the Republic.

    Paramount amount the projects, Mrs. Weah noted the construction of the Army Wives Vocational Training Center in Marshall, Margibi County, the construction and rehabilitation of orphanages and schools, as well as support to less fortunate women, girls, children, and the elderly/senior citizens, among others.

    Mrs. Weah also expressed her passion for ensuring quality education for children, which drove her to establish the Hope Academy at City of Hope through Clar Hope Foundation.

    The Hope Academy is the academic component of City of Hope – a multipurpose complex in Marshall, Margibi County.

    The outgoing First Lady, however, assured her unflinching support and prayers to their President-elect and Mrs. Boakai, the incoming president, and First Lady, as they take on the leadership of Liberia.

    President George Manneh Weah is expected to turn over power to President-elect Joseph Nyuma Boakai on Monday, January 22nd.

    For her part, Mrs. Boakai thanked Mrs. Weah for the great work she has done over the last six years, praising her courage and resilience to make positive impacts amidst challenges.

    The incoming First Lady used the occasion to share her experience as the Second Lady and the great initiatives undertaken through her foundation, the KYB Foundation.

    The education and welfare of less fortunate children and support of various underprivileged groups were at the heart of Mrs. Boakai’s work through her foundation.

    Following a brief prayer session that ended the meeting, Mrs. Boakai was taken on a guided of the First Lady’s office, where she’s expected to work from.

    The graceful interaction between Mrs. Weah and Mrs. Boakai further enhances the seamless transition of political power and governance which climaxes on Monday, January 22, 2024.
