The Liberia National Red Cross Society (LNRCS) recently visited the people of Podroken and donated agricultural materials to enhance environmental cleanup and improve hygiene practices.
The donation, which was made possible through support from the Swedish Red Cross, included shovels, wheelbarrows, cutlasses, racks, axes, ‘pingarli’, diggers, raincoats, rain boots, touch lights, slashing knives, sharpening files, and a lecture.
The team leader of the Red Cross said that the items are meant for the Community Based Action Team and the mother club to successfully implement hygiene practices.
The Secretary General of the Community Based Action Team and the Chairlady of the Mother Club both expressed thanks and appreciation for the Red Cross’s initiatives and highlighted the need for safe drinking water and modern latrines in the community.
They called for the immediate intervention of the Red Cross to address these challenges.
The Swedish Ambassador to Liberia, Miss Louise Edgren, was present during the donation and stated that they would work alongside the Red Cross to address the community’s needs.
She also extended her gratitude to the people of Podroken for their warm welcome, as it was her first time visiting the Southeastern region of Liberia.
She also said getting such a warm welcome makes her to feel happier and more comfortable to work with the people in that time.
