Bomi County Education Officer Samuel Koenig has vowed to dismiss and subsequently replace teachers on government payroll for abandoning classes during instructional period.
Speaking in an exclusive interview Tuesday January 30th, 2024, at his office, Mr. Koenig disclosed that on several occasions he had paid impromptu visits to government-run institutions but realized that some teachers are not in their classes during school hours.
Mr. Koenig, however, used the medium to call on teachers who are in the constant habits of abandoning their duties to desist or face immediate replacement as his office will not hesitate to do the needful.
At the same time the head of the Bomi County School System has outlined lack of operational funds as a major impediment of the educational system of the County.
Mr, Koenig explained that despite the government of Liberia through the Ministry of education provided vehicles and Motorbikes for CEOs and DEOs across the Country, the lack of funds to purchase gasoline or fuel continues to be a great challenge to closely monitor schools across the County.
Samuel Koenig is appealing to the Boakai-Koung administration through the Education Ministry to make available operational funds to enable them to operate smoothly.
