    LDEA Director-designate Wants Officers Paid $400usd

    The Director-designate of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), Mr. Abraham Kromah wants officers of the drug enforcement agency to make at least $400 USD as take home pay as a way of boosting their financial capacity.

    Mr. Kromah is calling on the Liberian Senate to help work on plan to pay officers of the LDEA at least $400.00, because according to him, the amount will motivate officers of the LDEA to discharge their respective duties freely.

    The LDEA Director-designate made the statement when he appeared at the Liberian Senate confirmation hearing. During hearing, Mr. Kromah assured the lawmakers that securing Liberia’s Borders against the illegal importation of Drugs and harmful substances in key on his agenda.

    Highlighting his 100 days in office, he noted that when confirmed, he will work with international partners and pursue the President’s quest to actualize the use of harmful substances a ‘national health emergency’.

    Appearing before the Senate’s Confirmation Hearing Friday, February 2, 2024, the LDEA Director-designate assured the Liberian people that he will elevate the LDEA law to international standard.

    “In my first 100 days in Office, with the help of our donor partners, especially the United States and the European Union, I will rigidly enforce Liberia’s drug laws and elevate the LDEA to International Standards,” Abe Kromah asserted.

     Kromah stressed the need in working with the multiple sectoral steering committee set up by President Boakai, and chaired by the Ministry of Health and Co-chaired by the Ministry of Justice, along with other relevant agencies of government to combat drugs in the Borders of the country.

     As dead of the LDEA, he said, “I will ensure that the President’s mandate is fully implemented to rescue the already damaged future of Liberian youths.”

    “I am aware of the fact that every Liberia family is directly or indirectly affected by the use and abuse of drugs,” Mr. Kromah noted.

    Based upon this, he said, his paramount concern is to first control the importation and proliferation of drugs in the Liberian society.
