Mr. Moore says he believes that the government has the responsibility not only to invest in local famers, but also create programs that will empower farmers. He noted that the government should provide additional subsidies to encourage more farmers to pursue opportunities in the agriculture sector.
Mr. Moore emphasized the importance of reinstating the Agriculture Cooperative Development Bank, and if reorganized, the bank should revitalize its role to work with and empower farmers by providing grants and loans.
He asserted that a conglomerate support base for farmers in the country will greatly empower local farmers.
He has meanwhile entreated his farming colleagues to be innovative and cooperative in their efforts to improve their farms.
Additionally, Mr. Moore has commended the Joseph Boakai government as he believes that his experience as the former agriculture minister would lead to advancements in the agriculture sector.
He says Liberian farmers should now pay more attention on the production of the nation’s staple food, rice, to feed Liberia and other part of Africa. He stressed the need for networking and partnering with other farmers from the subregion.
