House Speaker Fonati Koffa has ordered the House’s Committee on Rules, Order, and Administration to conduct an “Employee Payroll Audit” of all individuals associated with the House of Representatives.
The objective of the audit, as stated by Speaker Koffa, is to identify and rectify any discrepancies in the payroll, particularly eliminating ghost employees from the House’s payroll system.
The audit is also set to ensure financial probity and guarantee resources allocated are utilized judiciously in accordance with established procedures.
The Committee on Rules, Order, and Administration will lead the audit process, carefully reviewing the payroll records of all employees at the House of Representatives and report to plenary within a month.
Speaker Koffa stressed that the initiative is pivotal in maintaining the integrity of the House in ensuring that public funds did not go to waste and are responsibly utilized.
The audit, according to him. is a proactive step to addressing potential irregularity in the payroll system. The House is dedicated to the process, the Speaker noted.
‘We are dedicated to creating an environment of trust and responsibility in serving the public,” he pointed out.
During the process, Koffa wants all employees to cooperate with the audit team.
The Committee, the Speaker indicated, will provide regular updates on the progress of the audit, and findings will be made public to demonstrate commitment to transparency.
Meanwhile, Speaker Kofa has expressed commitment to upholding the highest standards of governance and accountability within the House.
