    –Boyfriend Suspects Turns himself

By Alexander Musa Jr., Grand Bassa County Correspondent

“Your help me.” Those were the last words of Comfort Glay, in her 30s, that echoed in the dead of the night into the ears of residents of New Buchanan Block C. What was expected to be lovely visit to her boyfriend, Stanley Moore, turned tragic and she lost her dear life to the bewilderment of the community dwellers.

The night seemed difficult for Comfort’s son, Nathan Song, who beheld his mother lying on cold ground with foam oozing from her mouth and nostrils. Choking on tears and barely holding himself, Nathan could not help his mother who dropped dead before anybody had the chance to revive her.

Comfort’s lifeless body was discovered in the community after dwellers of the environment allegedly raise alarm that she was running from her boyfriend’s residence pleading for help at about 11:00pm on Monday February 19, 2023.

An eyewitness, Madam Janjay Jimmy, in whose yard the late Comfort fell and died, said she and her daughter (name withheld) were in her yard when they heard the deceased shouting from on top hill that Stanley was killing her.

“After few minutes,” Madam Jimmy explained, “we saw the woman running in our yard crying that something is in her throat. She was asking us to put a finger in her throat but we refused because we didn’t know her from anywhere, and also we was avoiding trouble.”

Madam Jimmy continued that the woman kept grieving telling them if anything happens to her, her boyfriend, Stanley, should be held liable, though she said the lady did not call the name of her boyfriend prior to her demise.

Following some minutes of crying and breathing faster, the lady fell, and we didn’t hear her saying anything again, Madam Jimmy added.

For his account of the incident, the deceased’s 14-year-old son, Nathan Song, explained that it was some minutes after 10:00 O’clock Monday night when his mother told him that Stanley Moore called her to come to his house in New Buchanan Block C.

The lad pointed out that her late mother always told him that the only boyfriend she had was Stanley, and if they do not see her at times they should check to Stanley’s house. “I always kept that in mind,” Nathan said.

Upon hearing that his mother was lying down speechless somewhere in the community, his mind ran to what his mother told him that she would be at Stanley’s residence. He said he wasted no time and ran to Stanley’s yard but before reaching in the yard, he saw his mother on the ground with foam oozing out of her mouth and nostrils.

When he arrived, he narrated, his mother could no longer talk. He said he took the phone from her to make a call; but in less than three minutes, Stanley Moore came and asked him to give him his mother’s phone to put money on it to call.

“When I gave him the phone, he told me to walk with him to recharge to call people. My friend and I followed him but when we observed that he had passed by his house and continue walking, my friend and I ran back to where my mother was lying down,” Song asserted.

Meanwhile, a 15-man jury was set up Tuesday morning, February 20, 2023, to examine the body and they reported that there was no foul play.

The Government of Liberia, through the Liberia National Police (LNP), has deposited the body at Abraham Robert Mortuary in Buchanan as investigation continues. Stanley Moore has since turned himself over to the LNP.

Residents of the community are calling for a thorough and speedy investigation into the circumstances surrounding Comfort’s death.
