The state of the Sinje Health Center in Grand Cape Mount County now worries citizens of of County. The health center continues to deteriorate as patients, including women and children are now said to be sleeping outside of the facility during the rainy season
Cape Mountainians are calling on the Ministry of Health move fast and intervene and finish the stalled renovation works at the Sinje Health Center.
The appeal follows the departure of contractors hired from Margibi County after receiving about US$17,000 of the US$29,000 project cost.
Citizens are calling on Health Minister Dr. Louise M. Kpoto and the County Superintendent, who chairs the County Health Team Board, to investigate the situation, ensure the contractors return and complete the work, and facilitate the safe relocation of patients into the facility.
They also questioned the decision to hire contractors from outside the county and called for greater prioritization of qualified local contractors on future projects.
“Healthcare should not mean sleeping outside,” citizens said, urging authorities to act immediately.
