By Gibson W. Jerue Stack Reminder Let’s talk generally. Times have elapsed expeditiously. Two years ago, you were clearing your desk to vacate the Capitol Building to ready yourself for another task – to assume a herculean duty as president of the nation. Imagining that you were enthralled by everything. Thinking about the presidency alone was tantalizing, I assume. You may have played president in the mirror. It dawned on your wife, Clar, at that she was about to be called the “First Lady”. It was not to be home country – Jamaica, it was for a small West African…
By Nyangbay Von-nyon, Political Commentator A fairly dark-skin haggard woman sat psychologically brutalized by the man she has known for years. She was tranced into the horrible days of punches that greeted her every time her drunken husband was out of order. She struggled to catch her breath. She was exhausted, frail, and hungry too. Last night she had not eaten much, for she had to surrender the left-over crust to her poorly fed kids. She stretched her two legs apart, twisting her lips in agony, but hoping the severe pain that is nearly killing her will ease away. But…
Part IV For an evening dose, let’s dissect the first two paragraphs of Martin Kollie garbage in his second part article. Martin set up charges for me to respond to. Before I address his so-called charges, I should like to educate Martin on his demand for me to tell President Weah to publish his asset. Perhaps, Martin and others are just lazy opposition bag boys. If the assets of President Weah is that important to them, they have three things to do: They should go to the GAC and request it. If the GAC refuses, They should go to the…
Part III I had rather delve right into part three, but I am tempted to pointing out a major flaw with some Liberian students. This is the headline of Martin Kollie’s second part article: “The Jettison of a Career Rascal Blustering in Amnesia and Notoriety – Sexagenarian Gibson W. Jerue Under The Guillotine…” READ MORE READ FROM OTHER SOURCES Let’s synthesize this headline for a moment. Martin meant to tell his readers that I am a “jettison” (drop from an aircraft or ship), that I am a career rascal blustering in amnesia (career rascal ‘loud mouth’ in forgetfulness and famous…
Part II The reckless, erratic and irrational leader of the UL Student Unification Party (SUP), Martin Kollie professes to be a moral purest. He badmouths all who disagree with him, often caricaturing them in ways and manner he deems most disparaging, denigrating and demeaning. He portends himself to be speaking for the masses of our people. Martin is supposed to be the voice of reasoning. Everyone else is corrupt; everyone is a criminal; everyone is a national thieve. When you disagree with him, you are a paid agent, media mafia, CDCian, Weah supporter, even if his allegations found no premise.…
Part I Take a good look at him. Not his weird eyes. He is one of the leaders of the University Student Unification Party (SUP). This is the only student group in the Republic of Liberia that has yet to come to grips that communist-styled military regalia, gears and costumes have out lived their relevance. Even today, I surmise Martin and his colleagues have not realized that communism and socialism have been crushed globally. But I can understand, it has not occurred to them that the SUPists of yesteryear used the Cuban military attire to herald their insatiable desire to…
The General Auditing Commission (GAC) recently released its report on the US$25 Million intended to mop out excess Liberian banknotes, detailing colossal discrepancies in the process. The GAC did not pin the discrepancies on Finance Minister Samuel Tweah, but threw the burden of proof on the Central Bank of Liberia for carelessly disbursing huge sums of money without proper checks and balances. See report below: GAC REPORT ON US425 MILLION Meanwhile, Justice Minister says all monies were accounted for. Minister Musa Dean quoting the GAC report as saying that the Liberian dollars returns were equivalent to the US$17 million used…
Pres. Weah Encourages Liberian Youths Press Release Towards achieving his ambitious plan to transform Liberia, President George Manneh Weah is encouraging Liberian youths to venture into technical fields, particularly the sciences such as engineering, biology and agriculture. An Executive Mansion release quoted the President as saying that students trained in technical and science fields will reduce Liberia’s dependency on external experts and will boost the country’s drive towards achieving the Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development. The President said amid changing times occasioned by technological advancement, Liberian youths will meaningfully contribute to the country’s urgent development needs, if they took…
By Charles Gbayor In Harper, Maryland County “Mismanagement is not good for institutions that depend on funding from Government [of Liberia], and even other organizations.” Those were the words of Dr. S. Benson Barh, Vice President and Dean of the College of Health and Sciences at the Tubman University (TU) in Harper, Maryland County. The University is the second tertiary public institution of higher learning in Liberia. Dr. Barh presented one of two major topics at a capacity building workshop that included “What Is TU and Resources and Their Management…” According to Dr. Barh, Tubman University is a government institution…
