    President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has expressed gratitude to partners for their support to Liberia’s post-war recovery that has impacted the lives of the Liberian people through the restoration of electricity to Liberia.

    The rehabilitation of the Mount Coffee Hydropower Plant was initiated by the Liberian government through partnership with friendly governments and institutions including the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) of the United States of America, the European Investment Bank, the Germen and Norwegian governments.

    According to an Executive Mansion release, President Sirleaf was speaking on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Funders Meeting of Mount Coffee Hydropower rehabilitation project held at the Mamba Point Hotel in Monrovia.

    She said successive governments will build upon development programs initiated by her administration adding, “We believe in the continuity of government; some of these things will be passed on to the next administration” The Liberian leader lauded the international partners for the implementation of the Mount Coffee Hydropower Project pointing out some challenges, which according to her being viewed by the government amid at arriving at amicable solutions.

    She expressed the hope that feasibility studies will be carried out on the Via River because according to her that will enable Liberia have a dam to ensure the hydro continue to function even in the dry season. She said that despite the challenges in restoring full power supply in the country, her administration remains on track with works on transmission and distribution, efforts that have started to show fruitful results.
