The Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Dr. Emmanuel Yarkpawolo, has committed the EPA to resolving dispute between inhabitants of Kpatawee Clan and Jack Enterprise, the company managing the waterfall.
On Sunday, April 28, 2024, citizens of the clan staged a protest demanding the departure of Jack Enterprise.
Speaking at the end of a dialogue held with the aggrieved citizens and the management of Jack Enterprise, Dr. Yarkpawolo promised to resolve the matter.
He told Blaze Radio 90.7FM that he has ascertained what triggered the protest and that plans are afoot to restore calm.
The EPA boss at the same time instructed the company to resume its operations despite the police having closed the waterfall.
For her part, Bong County Superintendent, Madam Hawa Norris, said she would ensure the uneasiness between the citizens and the company is resolved.
Speaking on behalf of the aggrieved citizens, Kpatawee Clan Chief, Menpeakeh Darwokalar, acknowledged the efforts of Jack Enterprise in developing the waterfall and said they would only reconcile with the company if it lived up the MoU between the clan and waterfall managerment.
Also speaking, the Proprietress of the company, Madam Josephine Richardson appealed to the citizens to let go of what happened while promising to deliver on her corporate social responsibilities.
