A downpour of torrential rain hard hit Radio Gee 92.2FM broadcasting and finance departments destroying the roof. Major broadcasting equipment in Fish Town, River Gee County were also damaged.
Some of the equipment destroyed includes three desktop computers, studio mixer, the Audio system, among other vital broadcasting materials.
Speaking to Groove 106FM Correspondent, Radio Gee Station Manger George Kayee said a quick fix solution is needed to help remedy the situation or management risk losing more equipment to the constant rainfall or storm. Mr. Kayee said the there is no technical person on the ground to disconnect the other equipment to keep them safe.
Manager Kayee pointed out that the best quick fix solution is procurement of zinc, planks, cement and important building materials to reconstruct the broken walls and repairing the damaged roof.
The station manager disclosed during an interview via mobile phone that a communication has been written to the River Gee County Legislative Caucus, the local leadership, and sons and daughters of the County to come to the rescue of the radio station, which is offering great services to the people of River Gee.
Kayee said the situation is an emergency, which must be treated with urgency not prolonged pledges as the institution is the only 19-hour service medium for the sharing of information.
Radio Gee is a non-profit community radio station owned and operated by the community since 2006 in the nucleus of the southeast of Liberia.
