Press Secretary Kula Fofana says calm has returned to the Kinjor Town, after the deadly shooting to death of five people by the Liberian national police during a protest in the town. The Police Emergency Response Unite (ERU) and Police Special Unite (PSU) shot and killed at least three people on the scene, while two others died of gunshot wounds later.

The Mrs. Fofana told a press conference that President Joseph Boakai has been briefed and calmed has restored in Kinjor, adding that a team has been dispatched to troubled area look into the incident. She said the President “is talking with everyone,” in a bid to defuse tension in the region.

The Press Secretary said Pres. Boakai wants peace and tranquility to return to Kingjor, something she said citizens of the town have praised and appreciated the president.

Speaking on other matters, Mrs. Fofana has disclosed that President Joseph Boakai held a meeting with stakeholders from CEMENCO. During the meeting, she noted, many initiatives were discussed for the benefit of disadvantaged youths and the public.

The President’s meeting with the cement producing company also addressed issues of environmental concerns.

The alleged denial of former President George Weah from using the recently inaugurated VIP lounge at the Robert International Airport (RIA) came up again during the press conference.

Mrs. Fofana claimed that the allegations were false and misleading. However, she the VIP lounge as the “Presidential Lounge”, which she claimed was only intended for solely for the current President, not for former President.

Many wonder how the Press Secretary could claimed the Lounge was only intended for current President when Vice President Jeremiah Koung recently the lounge on his way out of the country.

Many Liberians and political observers believe the denial of former President Weah from using the VIP Lounge (not “Presidential Lounge”), former President Weah inaugurated before leaving office. Mrs. Fofana failed to display rules governing the lounge that only President Boakai uses the lounge.
