In celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8, 2024, House Speaker J. Fonati Koffa, expressed heartfelt appreciation for Liberian women, recognizing their invaluable contributions to society.

A statement from the Press and Public Affairs says, under the leadership of Speaker Koffa, the 55th Legislature reaffirms its commitment to supporting and amplifying the voices of women across the nation.

Emphasizing the significance of International Women’s Day, Speaker Koffa acknowledged the remarkable achievements and resilience of Liberian women in various sectors. He commended the dedication and hard work of female lawmakers, market women, and ordinary women, highlighting their essential roles in shaping the nation’s progress.

“As we celebrate International Women’s Day, it is essential to recognize and appreciate the immense contributions of Liberian women to our society. The 55th Legislature, under my leadership, is unwavering in its commitment to supporting and providing opportunities for women to be heard and empowered,” stated Speaker Koffa.

The Speaker expressed gratitude to the female lawmakers who have played pivotal roles in legislative processes, advocating for policies that promote gender equality and uplift the status of women in Liberia. He also acknowledged the resilience of market women whose entrepreneurial spirit contributes significantly to the nation’s economic growth.

“Women are catalysts for positive change, and their voices must be heard in every sector of our society. We extend our deepest appreciation to the female lawmakers who champion legislative initiatives for gender equality, as well as the market women whose hard work fuels our economy,” added Speaker Koffa.

The Speaker concluded by urging continued collaboration and support for women’s rights and gender equality. He emphasized the importance of creating an inclusive society that values and respects the contributions of women in all spheres of life.

As Liberia joins the global celebration of International Women’s Day, Speaker Koffa and the 55th Legislature reaffirm their commitment to fostering an environment where women thrive and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s development.
