He was one of the two Representatives who did not only initiate, but also persuaded their colleagues to impeach Supreme Court Justice Kabineh Mohammed Ja’neh. Montserrado District #8 lawmaker Acarous Moses Gray says, “What disappoints me is that some Liberians are protecting the strong against the weak…”

Gray says the impeachment of Justice Ja’neh followed a myriad of complaints and evidence of abuse of power, proved misconduct, arrogance and inappropriate behavior exhibited by the Justice over time that placed many people, including some members of his District #8 constituency at a disadvantage.

Representative Gray made the assertion when he appeared on “From The Horse’s Mouth,” a talk show on the Groove 106FM and Jerue TeleRadio on Friday, August 31, 2018. Host Gibson Jerue resides in Fargo, North Dakota, US, from where he broadcasts. The program took place at 5:00pm US Eastern Time, which is 10:00pm Liberian local time.

“This is not political,” Gray noted, and added that he and his colleagues have convincing evidences to ensure that Kabineh Ja’neh is removed from office after he was impeached by the House of Representative on Tuesday, August 28, 2018.

During the impeachment process, the House recorded 49 lawmakers who signed present for the day’s business. However, before the votes were taken, some had left for other businesses, Gray said. At least 23 of the 49 voted to impeach Justice Ja’neh. Nimba county lawmakers walked out of session during the voting process.

“We are 72 9originally 73 because one seat is vacant) currently and we need 33 members present to make a quorum,” Gray noted, “even if others leave after we obtain a quorum, the remaining Representatives can take a decision and it will be binding.”

He described Ja’neh as an “arrogant man” who does not have friends. According to Gray, among people who brought documents and other forms of evidence to him included members of Ja’neh’s relations. “Look, Ja’neh will be removed from office at the Senate,” Gray said.

Gray says he is confident that Ja’neh will be removed from and the “Judicial Branch will be liberated of the monster…” He assures: “We have judges that will be subpoenaed, lawyers that will be subpoenaed…”
