Bomi Co. The Ministry of Agriculture has announced a robust recruitment of potential smallholder farmers for direct benefit during the 2024 farming season in Bomi County.
According to the Regional Coordinator of the Ministry of Agriculture, Edmond Greeves, the initiative is under the Rural Economic Transformation Project and the Smallholders agriculture Transformation and Agribusiness Revitalization project.
He named 50 farmers in the Rubber sector, 350 vegetable farmers, 180 rice farmers and 120 farmers in the oil sector that will be direct beneficiaries under the World Bank support projects.
Mr. Greeves mentioned that the Ministry of Agriculture will prioritize rice production this farming season in order to ease the demand of the Liberian stable food on the local market.
Meanwhile, Mr. Greaves said there were lots of achievements ranging from the distribution of 10,000 birds, 250 pigs including Drinkers and Feeders under the RETRAP project.
Edmond Greeves expressed tremendous progress that took place under the last farming year in 2023, noting that he envisions more successes in the agricultural sector in the coming years.
