The Residents of Bangorma Town in Tewor District, Grand Cape Mount County, have complained of an insufficient land availability for their relocation.
The locals say the land where the Gold Giant BMMC want the locals to relocate lacks gravel yard for burial, and there is insufficient space for agriculture activities, and the land is not layout.
Another issue the residents raised that they want a Liberian builder to build their houses, and they do not want no two houses to be built on one foundation.
They are also their houses have not been built and the company is carrying on Mining. They also noted that the number of houses the company has built can’t accommodate the 7,637 residents to be taken to the new site.
For the issue of livelihood, no MOU is between they and the company, and they have begun their Mining.
In their Petition, they recommended that additional 500 acres should be acquired by the company, with each house built on one foundation.
They do not want the plan for the houses because no engineer from them and the government is assigned with the project.
They want their houses to be built with cement bricks rather than Firestone bricks. And they want their houses to be built before mining can go on.
