The Coordinator of the Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) Bong County chapter, Stanley Yarkpeh, has underscored collaboration and concerted efforts vital to fight against corruption in Liberia.
Mr. Yarkpeh said corruption is being practiced at all levels of society and there is a need for citizens to undertake a wholistic approach to tackle the menace. Yarkpeh is one the latest voices that continue to speak against the repugnance of graft and corruption in the Liberian governance system.
And Yarkpeh said it. He said the high wave of corruption is a trigger of poverty and the underdevelopment of Liberia; thus, leaving the nation and its people with untold suffering.
“Liberia is underdeveloped today because of corruption,” he added.
The Bong YMCA Coordinator mentioned that past and current national leaders have failed to see corruption as a major enemy of the state, making no efforts to prosecute those caught in the wed of the act.
He emphasized the importance of more awareness on the menace, adding that it would increase public education on how to eliminate corruption.
He lamented that public officials who are accused of corruption should be tried and if guilty, they must face the full brunt of the law.
