Citizens of Grand Gedeh County have taken to the streets in protest against President Joseph Boakai’s nomination of former Grand Gedeh District #3 Representative Alex C Grant as the Superintendent of the county. The Concerned Citizens of Grand Gedeh County voiced strong objections during a protest at the Capital Building.

Calling President Boakai to reconsider the appointment, the citizens cited reasons that questioned Mr. Grant’s suitability for such a crucial position. Among the allegations made by the Concerned Citizens is the purported acquisition of a fake degree from Nigeria, as well as Grant’s expulsion from both the University of Liberia and Cuttington University.

The protesters also accused of Mr. Grant of ritualistic killings, alleging that he has been accused of complicity in the death of the late election magistrate Alfred Donner. They said Mr. Grant has failed to exonerate himself from numerous accusations levied against him.

During the protest, Mr. Kai Gee, the Media Coordinator for the group, highlighted these concerns, emphasizing that Mr. Grant does not have the moral standing to hold such an honorable position.

He expressed the sentiment that if President Boakai truly cares for Liberia’s future, removing Mr. Grant from the post of Grand Gedeh County Superintendent is imperative.

Adding fuel to the fire, Mr. Nelson Goah, a prominent figure from Grand Gedeh County, accused Mr. Alex Grant of accomplishing nothing for his district and the county at large.

Furthermore, Goah implicated Grant in the mysterious disappearance of former NEC’s Magistrate Alfred Dunner, a claim that has yet to be substantiated.

The Concerned Citizens have vowed to continue their protests until their demands are met, asserting that the nomination of Alex Grant does not align with the best interests of Grand Gedeh County.

They have issued a warning that if President Boakai disregards their plea, they will escalate their demonstrations, posing a potential challenge to the newly elected government. As Grand Gedeh County finds itself engulfed in this controversy, the eyes of the nation remain focused on President Boakai’s response to the citizens’ concerns, as the fate of Hon. Alex Grant hangs in the balance.
