In just less than one week, at least three people have died by drowning at various locations in Grand Cape Mount County.
Our Correspondent says, on Monday, August 17, 2026, two people drowned at separate locations.
Then on Tuesday, August 18th, another person drowned in Teh Town. The victim is identified as Alex Gray , age 19, who drowned in a backyard fishpond allegedly dug by a man identified as Seidou Kiazolu more than 15 years ago.
Eyewitnesses say the fishpond had remained uncovered for 15 years, and the unsuspecting victim entered the pond to swim, went down at the bottom of the pond but never resurfaced. His lifeless body was removed by locals.
The tragedy follows two other drownings reported a day earlier. One victim drowned at Sowee Beach in Tewor District, while the second person drowned in Bendoo Town, Garwula District.
