The Resident Bishop of the United Methodist Church of Liberia (UMC), Rev. Dr. Samuel J. Quire has donated 25 gallon of gasoline to the local Radio planet station in Harper, Maryland County.

According to Bishop Quire, his donation was aimed at bolstering the efforts of Radio Planet management to keep the station running to continue providing quality news, information and entertainment, and quality broadcast to the people of Maryland County and the entire southeastern region.

The Rev. Quire said that information sharing is important and as such it is significant to keep the radio active and running. Quire, 57, was elected Dec. 17 2016 at the central conference’s quadrennial meeting at Abidjan, la Côte d’Ivoire. In the West Africa Central Conference, bishops are limited to 12 years in episcopal office.

Some 80 delegates of 20 each from Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and la Côte d’Ivoire attended the conference.

On the fourth ballot, he received 50 out of 80 votes cast. To be elected, a candidate needed at least 60 percent of the vote.

The Resident Bishop of UMC of Liberia lauded Radio Planet for the level of job done providing information for the public.

Receiving the donation on behalf of Radio Planet management, Manager Benedict Appleton extended his heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the Resident Bishop of the UMC of Liberia, Rev. Quire for his kind gesture and promised to keep providing quality broadcast and information to keep the people of Harper and the county informed.
