The Legislative Caucus of Maryland County has elected new corps of officers. Those elected were senator J. Gbleh Bo Brown as Chairman, Kaluway District Representative Isaac Roland Blalu as Co-chairman, and Harper Representative P. Mike Jurry as Secretary of the Caucus. The officers will serve for two years.

The election was held on the grounds of the Liberian parliament at the capital building last month and was observed by members of the County’s legislative caucus and the members of the media.

Prior to his election as chairman of the Maryland County Legislative Caucus, senator J Gbleh Bo Brown was elected chairman of the Internal Affairs, Good Governance and Reconciliation Committee of the Liberian senate. Sen. Brown was elected senator during a special senatorial election in 2014.

Our Maryland County Correspondent says the outgoing chairman of the caucus, Sen. H. Dan Morias expressed his gratitude and appreciation to his fellow lawmakers for their collaboration. He applauded his colleagues for working with him as a team. Morias thanked them for the time afforded him to serve the caucus and the County.

The past leadership failed to bring unity and peace amongst lawmakers, which was a serious concern of many Marylanders. Several citizens expressed dissatisfaction over the level of disunity and intra-conflict that characterized the Caucus.

Speaking on the local radio station, Radio phoenix in Harper during his visit to the county, the Caucus Chair Brown extols his fellow lawmakers for electing him. He promised to bring peace and unity amongst lawmakers representing the County, and he will work in collaboration with then to improve Maryland County in various sectors of needs.

Senator Brown disclosed that he’s constructing a Elementary and Junior High school in Yobloken that is around ‘75 to 80 percent completed’ in bolstering the Liberian government efforts in constructing public schools. He further said there are several project expected to be implenented.

Senator Brown has also provided one of the largest scholarship and financial aid programs for over 25 students at the William V S Tubman University, the second government-owned and run university in the Country.

Sen. Brown was hailed for his meaningful contributions to the Jacksonville Coaches Association and the annual football and kickball tournament hosted by citizens.

The Jacksonville Coaches Association is an organization based in Harper, Maryland County that aims at creating and supporting peace through massive awareness in all districts and sporting activities throughout the county.
