The Duala-Kokoyah road in Bong County is currently in a deplorable condition due to the spread of crush rocks on the road by the management of MNG Gold.
MNG Gold is a Turkish Mining Company that is mining gold in Kokoya Statutory District in Bong County.
During the last rainy season, the company put rocks in pop holes along the road, in an effort to make the road pliable.
But what the company considered a solution at the time has now degenerated into a problem for both motorists and passengers.
Some of the motorcyclists who spoke to our Correspondent say the rocks are puncturing their tires, a situation that is plunging them into unforeseen expenses.
They are appealing to the district’s representative, Rep James Kolleh and the county officials to intervene swiftly.
MNG Gold has mined tons of gold from Kokoya since 2015, but the multi-million dollar company has failed to pave or recondition the main road leading to Kokoya District.
The company has slowed down operations at its Kokoya mine in Bong County. The management attributed its decision to the increase in the price of gold on the market.
