The Multi-Stakeholders Platforms (MSPs) have over the weekend presented a landscape Management and Investment plan to the Management of Mano Palm Oil Company.
The Landscape Management and Investment plan is aimed at fostering community development and harmony with concession companies.
The presentation program was held on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at the Conference Room of Mano Plantation.
The investment plan brought together representatives from Zoduah, Zepeh, and PAC. The MSPs unveiled their comprehensive plan. Mr. Edwin S. Balo, Secretary of Zoduah Land Management, presented the document to the Management of Mano Palm Oil Company and emphasized its focus on benefiting affected communities while promoting harmony with concession companies.
The plan, spanning over ten years with a priority on the initial five, outlines key areas such as community livelihoods enhancements, landscape governance, and community awareness.
According to the document, approximately USD$1.5 Million dollars is required for the first five years, with significant contributions expected to come from private sector and donors.
Also speaking during the presentation, Mr. G. Richard K. Hilton, the head of the Corporate Communications Department at Mano Palm Oil Company, expressed the company’s interest in collaborating with the structured plan, noting its potential to mitigate conflicts and empower communities.
Representing the local government, Commissioner Stephen M. Perry commended the organizers for facilitating a constructive dialogue, emphasizing the importance of alternative livelihoods for community members. He welcomed the peaceful negotiations and urged the company to support community empowerment initiatives.
At the same time, the Project Manager Abigail F. Coker from “VOSIEDA” expressed gratitude for the successful meeting and highlighted the positive coordination between the company and the community.
