—He Allegedly Threatened Gborho Ahmuyan President Gayechuway

    By Ghanwohn Bargblor

For the past several years, there have been misunderstanding, to say the least among the Gborho towns in Grand Gedeh County.

The issues among the towns is currently being handled by various stakeholders in the region, and because of that, I’m going to diverge.

The purpose of this post, however, is to bring to light the role of Grand Gedeh County District#1 Representative, Honorable Zoe Emmanuel Pennue, in the conflict between our people in the Gborho region.

I asked that you please pay keen attention to what you are about to read.

The behavior Rep. Pennue exhibited during the conflict between the
Gborho towns worth the attention of every Grand Gedean.

Zoe Pennue is a lawmaker from Grand Gedeh County. His actions affect us all, directly or indirectly. It is therefore important that Grand every Gedeans take what he’s says and does very seriously.

First, during the 2014 senatorial elections in Liberia, of which Rep. Zoe Emmanuel Pennue was a candidate, Sen. Marshall Dennis, another candidate in that election, got more votes in Bargblor Town, a town in Gborho, than Hon. Pennue. Zoe Pennue was infuriated that his “entitled votes” went to his opponent.

After the elections, Rep. Zoe Pennue sent a car to get all the Gborho elders so that he can have a talk with them. During the talks, Mr. Pennue humiliated elders from Bargblor Town before their peers.

Rep. Zoe Pennue told elders from Bargblor Town how ungrateful the people of Bargblor Town were and vowed never to step foot in Bargblor Town for as long he lived. He has kept that promise to this date.

When the conflict between the people of Sowaken, and Zai Town went to court, and citizens of the two towns wanted to withdraw the case, Rep. Zoe Pennue stepped in by sending money to the people of Sowaken, telling them not to withdraw the case from the court so that the Zai Town can be imprisoned. The Sowaken people supposedly had the upper hand in the case, and Zoe Pennue was not too fond of anything in Gborho that is not from Tuzon.

Again, it has been widely reported that Zoe Emmanuel Pennue instigated the dismissal of Mr. T. Wilson Gaye from his position as Assistant Minister of Education. Mr. Pennue also paid residents of his hometown, Tuzon not to vote for Mr. Gaye, and Mr. Rufus Gbayor when they contested for Representative for Gbarzon District.

Besides, Zoe Pennue vigorously campaigned against the two brothers and saw to it that they were defeated in their respective elections.

The above is bad enough, but what caught my attention and triggered me to write this post is the recent encounter Rep. Zoe Pennue had with the president of Gborho Ahmuyan USA Inc., Mr. Johnathan Gayechuway during his visit to Liberia.

About two months ago, the Gborho community in the United States headed by Mr. Johnathan Gayechuway saw that the conflict among our people was getting out of control, and decided to intervene.

The Council of Elders and the entire membership asked President Gayechuway to go to Liberia and meet with various stakeholders to find an amicable solution to the problem.

While in Liberia, President Gayechuway sought audience with all prominent Gborho citizens including Rep. Zoe Emmanuel Pennue.

Mr. Gayechuway was able to meet with Mr. Edward Slanger, Festus Zeon and others. But Representative refused to meet with the Gborho Ahmuyan President. In fact, the campaign manager, and other close confidants of Rep. Pennue have been bragging about the fact that Mr. Gayechuway was snubbed by the Representative.

Not only did he refused to meet with Mr. Gayechuway, the Grand Gedeh County Lawmaker threatened to have the Gborho Ahmuyan President arrested and imprisoned.

Upon his return to the States, President Gayechuway reported the incident to the membership of Gborho Ahmuyan Association.

Since Gayechuway made his report, no one from Rep. Pennue’s camp, including the Representative himself, has come up to refute Mr. Gayechuway’s account of events.

It is believed that Zoe Pennue and some of his lieutenants directed the youth in Tuzon not to meet with Mr. Gayechuway during his visit to that town. The youth of Tuzon were told to drive the Gborho Ahmuyan President out of Tuzon whenever he shows up.

Mr. Gayechuway reported hostilities directed towards him during his peace mission and visit to Tuzon, Liberia. The Gborho Ahmuyan President almost got attacked by some unruly elements of the youth in Tuzon.

So, there you have it fellow Grand Gedeans, and in particular, people of the Gborho Nation. That’s the character of Rep. Zoe Emmanuel Pennue.

From all indications, Zoe Pennue and his confidants are the source of confusion in our area, and they must be exposed, and stopped now before it’s too late.

    Thank you for reading.

The article is being published to the spirit of cross fertilization of ideas and good debate. Rep. Zoe Pennue is welcome to respond and his view will be published as well.
