Maryland county Senator H. Dan Morais has donated LD$30,000 and five begs of rice to flood victims. A heavy down pull of rain on Sunday in Pleebo City, Sodoken District left over 25 people homeless and some valuable materials destroyed by flood waters.

Maryland county began experiencing heavy down pull of rain in the county since the raining season started. In May of this year, tenacious rain left about 30 people homeless in Harper Okru town community, which is not far away from the Hoffmant River and the Atlantic Ocean.

In response to the flood, Senator Dan Morais assisted the victims whose homes were flooded. The situation, he said, brought sorrow to him and out of his good will and sympathy he donated the LD$30,000 and five bags of rice to enhance the reconstruction of the houses swept away by flood water.

Victims who spoke to Groove 106FM Maryland County Correspondent said the heavy rainfall lasted for eight hours leading to their homes either destroyed or swept away.

The victims extend the thanks and appreciation to the senator Morias for his good will gesture and financial assistance to start construction of the homes again.

The flood victims then used the occasion to call on the Coalition of Democratic Change led Government to help in building water ways, which will help to prevent the re occurrence of such situation.

Meanwhile, Sen. Morais has also donated five bags of rice each, and some tea items to the Mosques and six dozens of  T-shirt to the youth department of the Mount Scott United Methodist Church in the county.

Speaking at his Hans Street residence, the Snator said he has regularly been donating to the Muslim community during the month of Ramadan. He said his donation are appreciation of the Muslims for the continuous prayers for the peace and development of Liberia in general, and Maryland County in particular.
