In the ongoing protest action against the Bea Mountain Mining Company in Kinjor town in Grand Cape Mount, House Speaker Fonati Koffa has set up an ad-hoc intervention committee to probe the protest, the shooting of unarmed civilians and other situations surrounding the operation of the Company.
According to Speaker Koffa, the committee is tasked with conducting a thorough investigation into the issues surrounding the protest, ensuring a fair and impartial inquiry. This committee will be able to understand what led to the protest and how the police handle the protesters.
The legislative committee comprises Reps. Yekeh Kolubah, Dixon Seboe, Eugene Kollie, Emmanuel Dahn, Foday Fahnbulleh, Edward Flomo, and three lawmakers from Grand Cape Mount. Observers says Rep. Yekeh Kolubah is most appropriate because he campaigned for President Boakai in Kinjor Town.
This delegation, as deputies of the people, must demonstrate the commitment to working in the best interest of the citizens of Cape Mount County.
The ad-hoc intervention committee is expected to work diligently to gather facts, engage stakeholders, and present a report that will guide future actions and decisions of the House of Representatives.
The Plenary emphasizes its dedication to addressing the concerns of the people and fostering a resolution that will ensure justice and fairness.
Meanwhile, the Plenary of the House of Representatives has called for calm and cooperation from all parties involved, urging citizens to trust in the investigative process.
“The commitment to transparent governance and the well-being of the people remains unwavering,” Speaker Koffa noted.
