Margibi Co.: The President of Trinity University in Liberia, Rev. Dr. James Tornonlah, is urging the national government to increase budgetary support for local farmers nationwide.
Speaking to local radio station in Margibi County, Former Margibi County Senator Tornonlah emphasized the importance of prioritizing the agriculture sector in Liberia.
He emphasized that agriculture is a crucial sector that can enhance the country’s economic system.
The former Senator of Margibi County said that during his tenure as the former Chair on Agriculture of the 54th Legislature, he learned valuable lessons that he believes the government should prioritize.
Meanwhile, he noted that there are many local farmers throughout Liberia who need the government’s intervention, saying that the government should increase funding in the national budget to enhance farmers’ capacity and production.
Rev. Tornonlah mentioned that small scale farmers primarily who engage in chicken and rice production need attention to improve their farming work. He used the medium to urge all farmers to strive for continuous farming activities.
