The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives at the Liberian Legislature, Hans Barchue, says the people of Grand Bassa County are ‘very steadfast’ to elect Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine of the Liberty Party  as president in  the ensuing October 10th Representatives and Presidential elections.

Deputy Speaker Barchue told Our Correspondent in Edina, Upper Grand Bassa County, September 12th during a campaign tour for his re-election and the election of Cllr. Brumskine, that several counties including Sinoe, Nimba, Lofa, Bomi and Montserrado have produced presidents and vice president unless Grand Bassa County, which he said is the founding county of the republic.

“Lofa produced two vice presidents, Harris Moniba and Joseph Nyumah Boakai; Bomi produced President, Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf; Nimba produced President, Mr. Moses Z. Blah and Vice President Enoch Dogocoleah, and Sinoe County produced Charles Greene as vice president.

But Grand Bassa County being part of the three counties that founded Liberi, Barchue noted, has failed to produce president. This is the time for Grand Bassa to make a president.

According to Barchue, neither defeat nor the winning of the Liberty Party strongman solely rest in the hands of Bassa citizens and it would be a good thing for Bassa people to follow their kin.

He stressed that if Grand Bassa and Rivercess Counties can produced more votes in favor of Cllr. Brumskine, the Liberty Party will make it to the runoff.

Barchue said the time is now to elect a “Bassaman” to lead the country, stressing that Cllr. Brumskine has is kind-hearted man and he’s developmental originated, giving him the opportunity to serve will move the country forward.

Speaking about his reelection, Barchue said the people of Electoral District #1 should give him another chance in order for him to complete what he started. He said he carried out some development projects in the district that he believes the people will give him another chance.

He maintained that the Capitol Building, which is the official seat of the Liberian Legislature, is not for unprepared people, uneducated, drugs users and people who lack credibility instead, it is for individuals who have dedicated their time and resources in serving the people and providing service to the Liberian populace.
