By Charles Gbayor in Harper, Maryland County

He was one of the several lawmakers elected in the 2014 special senatorial elections. J. Gbleh Brown was elected senator of Maryland County, Republic of Liberia. But since his election, Sen. Brown has not rested until he carried out several medium projects across the county.

Senator Brown is currently carrying out projects in two of the three electoral districts in the County. Those projects included a modern youth center in New Kru Town, the Tobyville Township Hall in Harper District and the completion of the Manolu Health Center in Kaluway District.

The health center is currently under construction. The Liberia Agency for Community Empowerment was carrying out the project, but the project stopped due to funding problems. Our Correspondent said when Senator Brown was informed that the project had stopped, he allocated funding from his legislative development fund and completed the health center.

The Senator also bought and brought in some medical equipment and drugs/medicines worth over US$15,000 to provide quality healthcare delivering in that part of the county.

Sen. Brown is also being hailed for establishing a loan program that seeks to provide opportunity for market women whose husbands and fiancés are not working to sustain their homes and transform their lives. The loan program started in Harper City in Harper District and has extended to Banniken in Kaluway District and there are plans to reach to other parts of the county, according sources closed to the Senator.

Tobyville Township Commissioner, Nagbe Sonpon said Sen. Brown has done a lot of good things, including the construction of a modern town hall for the people of the township. The town hall was constructed is situated in New Kru town, a densely populated community in Harper District.

The Tobyvile Commissioner added that Sen. Brown, a humanitarian-turned-politician, has done a great job for the people in the County. He promised to work in collaboration with the lawmaker’s office. He described Senator J Gbleh B.O Brown as “Talk and Do” person, who means what he says he would do. The Senator’s twins projects (the youth center and the Tobyville town hall) cost a little over LD$45,000 and both projects are completed and ready for use.

Also speaking to Groove 106FM Maryland County Correspondent, the senior youth chairperson of the Tobyville Township, Abel Toe, said the youth center plays an important role in bringing the young people together and it was constructed base upon several calls to the office of the Senator for a youth modern center.

Mr. Toe used the occasion to extend his heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the Senator for doing his job to move Maryland forward in terms of development, especially infrastructure.
