The Senior Medical Doctor at the Liberian Government Hospital in Buchanan, Dr. Alfred Loua, has spoken of the shortage of nurses to meet the high influx of patients at the hospital. Dr. Loua says there are 13 patients to one nurse at the only Government-run Hospital in the County.

Dr. Loua said the Liberian Government Hospital is catering to 200,000 plus human beings in Grand Bassa and other counties.

He made the disclosure Friday, July 28, when he addressed Dr. Larry Bropleh’s family who has gone to do some survey at the hospital.

He also stated that there are only two doctors at the hospital. Dr. Loua said the hospital is understaffed and need three times the size of current work force.

“Currently we have 56 staff including the two medical Doctors,” says Dr. Loua. He named laboratory and pharmaceutical supplies, ultra sound and microscope as major attention areas at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the Bropleh’s Family who toured the Liberian Government Hospital in Buchanan promised to address some of the major challenges at the Hospital is faced with.

Members of the Bropleh’s Family who toured the Hospital were Dr. Rudolph M. Bropleh, Mrs. Edwina Bropleh Barchue, former Director of Nurses at the Health Ministry in Liberia; Miss Mary Tor Bropleh and Dr. Lawrence K. Bropleh, former Minister of Information for Liberia.

Dr. Lawrence Bropleh, a Representative hopeful in Electoral District #3 (Buchanan City) promised to donate two flat screen TV for the children ward at the Hospital.
