Aggrieved workers of National Fisheries & Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA) say, they do not want a director is rude and worthless to be their head. The irate employees described Emma Matieh Glassco as “rude and a worthless public official to head the entity” but Madam Glassco says their claims are politically motivated.
According to our reporter, the aggrieved workers gathered at the front view of the NaFAA’s national headquarters on Bushrod Island holding placards in their hands inscribed with several grave allegations against Madam Glassco.
The group chairperson, Patrick Wisseh told reporters recently on the Bushrod Island that their concerns were formally communicated with both the Liberian Senate and House of Representatives, but they have not got any redress.
They accused the NaFAA Boss of bad labor practices, inhumane treatment of staffers, illegal dismissal, demanding forceful resignation of employees, and deduction of sea going observers’ allowances.
Mr. Wisseh also indicated that the institution has not made any increment in salaries for the past six years, including the management’s alleged deliberate refusal to provide a bus to commute workers to and from their places of work.
He called on the 55th Legislature to prevail on Madam Glassco to reinstate all illegally dismissed staffers, grant an employment status to all contractors working for over two years. He also asked the lawmakers to commission an impartial investigation and audit.
Wisseh threatened that the group will prevent any staff from entering into the premises of NaFAA next Monday, February 26th until their plights are addressed.
When contacted, Madam Emma Matieh Glassco said those claims are politically motivated and they are not of national concern.
