10 Ways Eugene Fahgon Can Make Himself Useful – Part I

Eugene Fahgon, the Deputy Minister of Information for Public Affairs who dresses sloppy to live broadcast

There has been uncertainty since the insertion of the Weah Administration. Events have been unfortunately capricious too. Weah comes to the helm of the Liberian Governance system at the time when too much is at stake and too little is being done to rescue the nation from the brink of socio-political and economic squalor. This gruelingly striking reality gets real the more when the Weah administration said recently that the government is broke. True. Broke is the government, but is this what Liberians are interested in hearing right now…no, at least not when it will exacerbate their frustration and depression. Bottom-line, President George Weah may not possess a magic wand, but his chosen galaxy of men must be ready for the job to deliver.
Talking about delivering, that brings me to my main thought for the purpose of this piece. Having thought through recent comments and actions of the Deputy Minister of Information for Public Affairs, Mr. Eugene Fahgon, it punctures me that it is taking too long for Mr. Fahgon to assume his proper role. Let’s take a look at some of Fahgon’s utterances and actions that have and will continue to put him in the box. Think about his diabolical, disdainful and scornful comment about Liberian journalists starving to death, his latest social media post: “You will never do to Pres. George Weah what you did to SKD. Patrick Minikon, Gray D Allison, etc. were removed; SKD vulnerable.” This comment has two ways to look at it: 1) that there are people in and out of government that want to divide and rule the Weah regime, or 2) that there are credible indications that Weah’s security is vulnerable. I will address this in another article, but let’s talk about the 10 ways Fahgon can make himself useful to the government and to the Liberian people.
Way #1. Know your portfolio and understand the function:
Without looking up the position that Fahgon occupies, the nomenclature is clear – deputy minister for public affairs. The last two words diktat the function! That means Eugene Fahgon’s chief responsibility thrusts him in the position to feel the heartbeat of the public, barometer their concerns, frustrations, depression, and aspirations, and tailor government’s public relations machinery not only to mollify negative propaganda, but also to articulate factually plausible narratives that seek to address the issue with sobriety. To be the public affairs minister, you are in the public’s eye and you are the embodiment of the entire regime coming face-to-face with the people. It is now time to be very mindful because whatever you say does not have a personal perspective. It will always be an official position and that will be blamed on the government. Let me remind you my friend, you came to this position in a storm of questionable education credentials.
You told people you had master’s degree, but it turned out you claim to have four associate degrees. Although I did not buy your claim of four associates because it does not make sense, with the current situation, even one Associate Degree could have landed you in that position. So with all that controversies, you must recreate yourself. The government depends on you greatly. In case you don’t measure up, they will sack you. Listen and listen very good – you should stop going around and telling people that you sacrificed your life to make President George Manneh Weah, as you broadcast in your video. As a matter of fact, Weah was already popular; he made himself, and you simply role on his reputation to mount a Facebook shouting match with your reckless use of “cartel” and “country-concau” divisive parody. I still remember when you hailed Benoni Urey and badmouthed Weah. In the twinkling of an eye, you became Weah’s man. Well, that is what opportunist do…not suggesting you are. Remember, if you blunder, the government blunders.
