The Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) says the ruling Unity Party recent statement calling for the resignation of Chairman Jerome George Korkoya is a ‘mere unnecessary bluff’ and a clear indication of fear factor ahead of the December 26th Presidential run-off between the UP and the CDC.

The CDC at a news conference Wednesday, December 13th, at its national headquarters in Monrovia, the party intimated that the statement shows the weakness of the ruling party as the country gears up the crucial election.

Speaking to reporters, National Youth Wing Chairman of CDC, Jefferson Koijii said that the CDC is adequately prepared to battle the Unity Party at the ballot box and nothing will stop what he calls a massive defeat of the Unity Party at the hands of the CDC.

According to him, politics is about competition and the recent action of the ruling establishment by running to court despite being one of the parties that qualified for the run-off and now calling for the resignation of Chairman Korkoya is just a scared tactic, indicating the party is totally out of ideas.

Koijee noted that the past 12 years, the CDC has remained in the opposition community and it’s time for the Liberian people who made the UP the ruling party to make the CDC the ruling establishment and that the desire of the Liberian people will not be delayed nor denied as anticipated by UP partisans.

“Our friends on the other of the political divide are out of ideas and only thing they are calling for is the resignation of Chairman Korkoya. Their delay will not change the minds of the Liberian people. Our people have decided and concluded about bring change to our country through the ballot box and nothing can change it,” Koijii maintained.

He welcomes the decision of the National Elections Commission on the pronouncement of the run-off date, which is now set for this December 26.

He urged CDCians and supporters of the Senator George Weah to remain calm and turnout on the day of voting to make the change that Liberians long waited for transmitted to realities.
