The authorities of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) have launched a search for the men’s national team coach. The Ministry of Youth and Sports is also part of the effort to get a coach for the men’s national team.
A Liberian International player, Tonia Tisdell, has thrown his weight for the support of his former coach to charge of the national team, the Lone Star. Tonia made the open decision to stand with one time Liberia’s national team coach Antoine Hey to serve as coach and manager of the Liberia national team over other coaches who are contesting the job.
Tonia said the former Lone Star coach has what it takes to not just revive the national team but to inject strong programs and soccer policy that would develop, prepare and lead the team into competitions on the global stage of football or soccer.
Justifying his decision of support for Coach Hey, the Liberian international striker noted that during his days as head coach of Liberia’s national team, Coach Hey made some impressive gains in winning matches, improved standards of play and ignited the connection of Liberian players to ‘international space’.
Tonia said Coach Antoine Hey is qualified with the needed credentials to manage the affairs of Liberia national soccer team.
Between 2008 and 2010 Coach Hey had the opportunity to serve as coach of the Lone Star and is amongst other coaches who submitted application for the coaching job of the national team of Liberia.
At the time Coach Hey oversaw the national team, Tonia noted, he was able to positively impact the team collectively and individually, which led to the progress of the team on the African continent between 2008 to 2010.
He said Coach Hey has competitive vision and agenda for Liberia soccer that incorporated the plan to develop the game and explore individual talents in Liberia. “What he was doing for this national team was far bigger than what you guys think,” Tonia said.
