Grand Bassa County Superintendent, Levi Demmeh, has dissolved the Bassa Sports Association and he is now recommending reconstitution of the Association with new members. The Superintendent’s action ahead the National County meet soccer fiesta expected to take place soon.
According to Superintendent Demmeh, the County will no longer continue with the current BSA management committee, noting the committee did not maintain the status of the County as defending Champions.
Grand Bassa County was defending champions during the 2016/2017 National County Sport Meet, but the team failed to reach he semifinal, something Superintendent Demmah described as lack of strategies.
In a related development, Supt. Levi Demmah has told our Correspondent in Buchanan that he has asked the County Attorney, Cllr. Samuel Jacob to invite the CJ Construction to explain reason for the delay on the completion of construction works at the Doris Williams Sports Pitch in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.
Supt. Denmeh, Vice Jury to the President of Liberia, further mandated the Cllr. Jacob to proceed with a law suit, if the CJ Construction Company refuses to complete the project.
Demmah spoke Monday August 28, 2017 during a press conference with journalists at his office on Roberts Street in Buchanan.
The Doris Williams Sports pitch renovation work bid was won by CJ Construction Company in 2012. The Company built two of the three stadium wings, which include the VIP building and the outside restrooms.
The company is yet to complete the remaining stadium wing, the wiring of the VIP Building and some other minor work.
The CJ Construction company last work on the field was in 2014.
The company in a meeting with the Development section of the Grand Bassa County in 2015 told the County that they under bided the contract and appealed for additional $150, 000usd to complete the work.
It appears Mr. Denmeh is reluctant to grant the second amount of money the Company is requesting for and is now ordering the prosecuting arm of the County to proceed with lawsuit if the construction company fails to do the job it bid for.
