President Joseph Boakai has extended warmest greetings and assure Liberia U-17 players of his full support as they prepare to face The Gambia U-17.
Liberia is expected to lock horns with their Gambian counterparts in the semi-final of the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Zone A U-17 tournament in Senegal.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, the Liberian leader expressed appreciation for the Junior Lonestar for earning a place among the best teams in the competition.
Liberia advanced to the finals after pulling a draw with Mali and defeating the Republic of Guinea.
As Liberia U-17 National Team seeks automatic place at the 2026 Africa U17 Cup of Nations, President Boakai urged the players to go into the game with a high level of confidence, discipline, and the belief that they can qualify.
The President added that the team participation in the AFCON Qualifiers show signs of continuous investment in grassroots sports.
President Boakai reaffirmed his government commitment to supporting sports development, especially at the grassroots level, and creating opportunities for the players to discover and develop their talents.
