But Bilibo Citizens Say They Don’t Know The Victim

The government of Liberia, by and thru the Ministries of Justice and Internal Affairs, are now seeking the treatment of the 13-year old rape victim currently shielded by her biological mother in Bilibo, in the Glio/Twarbo District.

The Superintendent of Konobo Statutory District, Moses C. Neah has disclosed to the Groove 106FM that he along with Glio/Twarbo Administrative District Commissioner, Joseph Tarlue, were recently summoned by the Ministries of Justice and Inter Affairs.

Neah said the two ministries, by and through the County Superintendent Peter Solo have orderd that the 13-year old rape victim is taken to Monrovia for treatment.

Neah said based on the authority’s request, Superintendent Solo mandated them along with Grand Gedeh County Traditional Council spokesman, Police and Justice, including elders emanating from that the Glio/Twarbo district to proceed to the area to ascertain other basic information surrounding the case.

According to him, after their deliberation with the citizens in Bilibo Town, the citizens categorically denied knowing the 13-year old girl. They told the Konobo Superintendent and others that they also do not know the uncle (the driver of Morias Waylee). In fact the Bilibo citizens said they do not even know any family member connected to the rape victim.

Mr. Neah said they then submitted the findings to Superintendent Solo and he has also informed the Justice and Internal Affairs Ministries. There is no word from the two ministries as yet, but observers say the Bilibo citizens might not be telling the truth, especially journalists went there and saw and took pictures of the victim.

Neah even disclosed of chatting with Representative Waylee on the same matter, but he said Waylee told him that the allegations are false and misleading and called for those pursuing the case to produce evidence.

The Konobo District Statutory Superintendent who also served as Gender Coordinator for Grand Gedeh County for over seven years lamented that of lack of complainant up to present makes the case difficult to pursue, adding that rape is a first degree felony crime in Liberia.

He said as authorities of the district and county, they remain steadfast in the hearing of alleged rape case against their kinsman and urged that justice should prevail in the right direction.

Meanwhile, Rep. Morias Waylee insists he has nothing to do the with 13-year old. He told the Liberia Broadcasting System that allegations that he bribed the family of the rape victim is false. “How much money do I have to bribe,” Waylee told the LBS.

Waylee is currently charged with Conspiracy, Tempering with Criminal Investigation, Tempering with Witnesses, and kidnapping. He has arraigned in the Magisterial Court but pleaded not guilty to enter a contest with Government prosecutors.
