Suspected ritualistic killing has been reported in a Grand Kru County village, involving a 52-year old man, identified as Alfred Gray. He was Principal of the Putu Town Elementary school in a village called, “Civilized Village” in Jrao Statutory District.

Alfred Gray was killed on August 10, 2017 by unknown assailants, who removed his penis and left his lifeless body.

An ELBC Grand Kru County Correspondent Mykins J. Suah said in the Liberia Community Radio Journalists chart room on the social media that citizens and residents claimed the murder of Gray is an act of ritualistic killing, something that most people believe is prevalent in the County.

Citizens who spoke on the local radio station, Voice of Grand Kru in Barclayville, said the late Gray left his home on Thursday morning to carry “palm nuts” for his Father-In-law who lived in another village an hour distance away from Gray’s village.

They narrated that on his return at about 4pm local time, unknown assailants attacked him using shovel handles and sticks to subdue and subsequently murdering him.

They said that after Gray was killed, his body left lying at a bank of Doryen Creek. Gray’s killers escaped the scene; however, no blood Stain was found on his deceased body or on the scene.

Meanwhile, the mysterious death of the school principal in recent days has brought to three the number people who have died from such circumstances in Grand Kru County, ahead of October 10th representatives and presidential elections in Liberia.

In July a woman, identified as Nmhadi Toe Wolloh’s, lifeless body was discovered in Grandcess, [New Cess]; and in late 2016 another woman known as Tankwan Belloh went missing in Barclayville but was found dead after days of vigorous searched.

The citizens have attributed those happenings to the lack of adequate manpower of the Liberia National Police and other security offices assigned in the area to combat crimes. The frightened citizens are calling on the central government to immediate act and ensure security for the locals during these elections period.

Grand Kru, which is one of the under developed counties in Liberia, has a little over 57,000 inhabitants, according to the Liberia Statistics for Geo Information Services “LISGIS” 2008 housing and population census report.
