The ruling Unity Party seems to be losing tremendous grounds in Grand Bassa County with resignation of key executives members of the Bassa Chapter of the Party. It was Gbehzohngar Finley opened the floodgate and others are following suit and leaving the ruling party much tothe disappointment of UP’s Standard-bearer Joseph Boakai, currently Vice President of Libeira.

Before political heightened, there was enthusiasms of citizens of Grand Bassa County with  a wave of endorsements for the Unity Party Standard-bearer, but the Bassa Chapter is now a breeding ground for Resignation.

The most recent executive member of the UP Bassa Chapter to resign is the Recruitment and Mobilization Officer of the Women Wing of UP Grand Bassa Chapter, Olivia Massaquoi. Madam Massaquoi resigned Monday Aug 28, 2017.

In an interview with our Grand Bassa County Correspondent via phone Wednesday Evening, Olivia Massaquoi said despite been elected like other executive members of the party, she has been overlooked in the Party.

“It is just for the love of the party,” Madam Massaquoi noted, “but I don’t have anything to show as an executive member of the party since I joined.”

Her Resignation brings to three the number of Executives of the Party who have resigned from the party in less than two weeks.

But the Party’s Bassa Chapter Chairman, Bill Davis, downplayed the resignation of Madam Massaquoi, saying that resignation is normal thing in politics, but maintained that the Party is still strong in the County and is prepared to win overwhelmingly in the county, comes October 10, 2017 elections.

Many are attributing the sluicegate of resignation to the Dr. Gbehzohngar Findley who left the Party, just when there were speculations that he would have been chosen for Vice Presidential running mate of Vice President Joseph Boakai who is now seeking the highest office of the land.

Dr. Gbehzohngar Findley and Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine are two political giants of Grand Bassa County.
