A stalwart of the governing Unity Party, Nimba County Representative Worlea Sawah Dunah, has said that the Unity Party is currently in evil hands, saying that this has created serious problems for those who have worked over the years to make the party what it is today.

Representative Dunah said that the leadership of the Unity Party headed by Wilmot Paye, Neto Zarzar Lighe and the rest has shown total disrespect to the standard-bearer emeritus, referring to President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

Speaking to Groove 106FM Correspondent in Monrovia at his Paynesville residence outside Monrovia, Rep. Dunah indicated that there are reports of some elements within the party who were considering to expel President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf from the party on grounds that she was reluctant to throw her weigh behind the Party’s presidential and representative bids in the 2017 elections.

The Nimba County lawmaker, who is enjoying his second term in office, added that currently leadership of UP is a group of people who think evil about the president, adding that the Unity Party is where it is today due to the achievements and leadership role of the president.

Dunah said recently in an executive committee meeting some officials of the party including former Labour Minister Neto Zarzar Lighe, Campaign Spokesman Mohammed Ali alias Mo Ali and Party Chairman Paye said in the meeting that they set to expel the president.

According to the Nimba lawmaker, he challenged them saying they do not the numerical strength and the guts to expel President Sirleaf, and challenged them to adequately prepared to battle politically. Former Minister Lighe is said to have remarked that he would deal with the President brutally.

Former Minister Lighe has denied the claims, saying, “It is childish and envious on the part of the Representative Dunah to have shared some lies.” But Rep. Dunah pointed out there were bitter exchanges, and a group of young people carried damning placards raining insults on the President and booing the president, himself and River Gee County Senator Conmany Wesseh.
