Says They Need Prayers and Deliverance

By E. J. Nathaniel Daygbor in Monrovia

River Gee County Senator has sharply replied his critics who are clamoring for his expulsion from the county’s legislative caucus. But Wesseh says of his fellow caucus members that they need prayers and deliverance in order for them to see the truth and know the best way to good governance.

Senator Wesseh said that the recent decision of his legislative colleagues who “illegally expelled” him has a great mistake in their political lives and shame has embarrassed them to come to the realization of repentance.

Speaking at his Duport Road residence in Paynesville, outside Monrovia, the River Gee County Senator maintained that he has done no wrong by checkmating nominees proffered by President George Weah.

He added that it is the constitutional responsibility of senators and not representatives to evaluate nominees in the confines of the laws, adding that experience and qualification are part of the scrutiny. He says, he has only played his role in making sure that those forwarded to the senate for confirmation meet the minimum requirements.

He noted of the 59 nominees forward by the President to occupy various positions in River Gee County, 48 of them have sailed through.

Meanwhile, a group calling itself, Potupo Development Association has strongly condemned the recent action by the Legislative Caucus of the county to expel Sen. Wesseh.

“We have received various communications from the leadership of the Caucus in which they said you are creating disrepute to the office of the president of the Republic of Liberia and at the same time accusing you of undermining the development of River Gee County,” the group noted.

“Wesseh, these allegations which we strongly believed is fallacies and have no iota of truth,” the group added in its position statement, “These allegations are unfounded, baseless and have the propensity to create chaos in River Gee and the Republic of Liberia.”

The group presented its two-page statement to Sen. Wesseh under the signature of Pawoo Teh, Secretary and approved by Richard Donald, Chairman of the group respectively.

According to them, they are calling on Senator Wesseh to take advantage of the rules of law in the Republic of Liberia.

“Few days later, Francis S. Young of District number two, River Gee County called on River Gee Radio as individuals and rained insults on you and your entire allied. We also realized the negative implications on the part of Young to divide the people of River Gee,” the statement noted.

“We want the law to take its course and be made to produce all necessary pieces of evidence to prove his case in court of competence jurisdiction in the Republic of Liberia,” the Potupo Association said.

The group noted that it is their conviction that this is an attempt to keep the people of River Gee in total abject poverty and to create disunity in the county and they demand apology caucus to be extended to Wesseh who had held the banner of the county in high esteemed over the year.

“We are also calling on the President of the Republic of Liberia George Manneh Weah not to listen to politicians or individuals who want to use their selfish and personal aggrandizement to create miss feelings between you and Senator Wesseh. This government belongs to all of us and we must work hard to bring success to our country. Lastly, we want to use this time to call on all politicians loquacious arrogant to desist from all negative tendencies that can divide us as a people,” the group concluded.
