Bong County Superintendent Hawa Norris has traveled to Turkey for advanced medical treatment.
County Administrative Officer Sam Elliott will assume her administrative responsibilities in her absence.
Speaking during a simulcast recently, Elliott said Liberian doctors recommended that the superintendent sought further medical treatment abroad following medical examination.
Elliot, who declined to comment on the nature of the superintendent’s illness due to privacy reasons, confirmed that Superintendent Norris departed Liberia with her family via Roberts International Airport in stable condition.
According to him, the superintendent informed the Office of the President, the Ministry of Local Government, and the Bong County Administration of her medical leave.
Elliot urged residents and government institutions in the county to continue conducting their official businesses through his office, while the superintendent is away for medical treatment.
He also appealed to citizens and religious leaders to pray for Superintendent Norris’s speedy recovery.
