—ICC Says It Will Not Proceed With Jefferson Koije Case
The International Criminal Court (ICC) says it will not proceed with the analysis and possible prosecution of a case brought before it by Cllr. Jerome Verdier, Executive Director of the International Justice Group, against Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson Koije.
Cllr. Verdier, in a dossier to the ICC, referred Mayor Koije for investigation for alleged crimes against humanity. Verdier told the ICC that Koije is a bad actor and he must be nail to stamp criminality.
Mayor Koije has denied wide allegations against him. He told Groove 106FM news that the allegations against him are work of haters. “They are lying on me,” Koije lamented.
But the ICC wrote Cllr. Verdier, saying it does not have the mandate for the crimes accused of Koije. The ICC says its mandate covers crimes committed as of July 1, 2002 and does not cover crimes allegedly committed before that time.

The ICC told Verdier that the kind of crimes he alleged falls within the period not under the jurisdiction of the international court.
