The Bishop of the Episcopal Church in Liberia has warned religious leaders and politicians against power drunkenness which he says leads to violation of human rights, corruption, and abuse of power.
The Rev. Dr. James B. Sellee pointed out that the problems of Liberia over the years have been caused by the abuse of power, adding that abuse of power breeds corruption, nepotism and neglect of the interest of the citizens.
Bishop Sellee gave the warning when he inducted the newly elected executive chapter members of the Trinity Cathedral Episcopal Church on Broad Street on Sunday.
Bishop Sellee speaking from the gospel of Mark 21 – 28. Part of the scripture indicates that Jesus ordered impure spirits to vacate, and they obeyed him. The Bishop noted that The Bishop urged that public servants and religious leaders in the country always serve the country and its citizens diligently, if their lives must be improve.
In remarks, two a member of the newly installed Executive chapter of the Trinity Cathedral Episcopal Church, Nkechi Joyce Arizor, assured the congregation of the growth and fund raising of the church,
According to her, there is a need for members of the Episcopal Church to always attend church services and help address the difficulties confronting the church.
Also speaking, Mr. Cromwell Beddell lauded members of the Episcopal Church for electing him and other members that will steer the affairs for the next two years.
He acknowledged challenges confronting the Episcopal Church but vowed that the new leadership will address those problems adequately.
Those inducted into office included Madam Nkechi Joyce Arizor, Cromwell E.N. Beddell , Eyvonme Harding, Marjon Kamara, Lawodo V,N. Thomas and Bro Charles Harris.
