The Bassa Sports Association, Grand Bassa County’s soccer, basketball, kickball and athletic governing body, has been reconstituted. The Information Officer of Grand Bassa County, Eddie Williams, has confirmed the appointment of Emmanuel Surprise Whea as Chair of the Association.

Me. Whea’s appointment comes barely three weeks after Grand Bassa Superintendent Levi Denmah dissolved the leadership of the Association for what he called the county team’s failure to perform well in the last County Meet soccer fiesta.

Mr. Eddie Williams made the disclosure to our Grand Bassa County Correspondent September 9, 2017, stating that Emmanuel Surprise Whea, who is also former Secretary General of the dissolved BSA, will now chair the Association, replacing his former Chairman, Arthur Jimmy.

Mr. Williams named others appointed as, Edward Wolo, Vice Chair for Administration; Momo Harris, Vice Chairman for Operation; Othello Contour, Bassa Youth Caucus President  as Secretary; Mcgill Sherman, Financial Secretary; Rose Lloyd as Treasurer, and Jeremiah Johnson as Advisor to the BSA.

Grand Bassa Superintendent Levi Demmah during a recent press conference announced the dissolution of the BSA on grounds that the officials failed to win the county meet. The Superintendent then called on citizens of Grand Bassa County to recommend names of individuals to form part of the new leadership of the Bassa Sports Association.

Of the officers of the BSA, only Othello Contour is the strange name added to BSA. Arthur Jimmy and Garmondeh Karngar were the two officials who were kicked out of the BSA.

Critics believe that Superintendent Demmah took the decision to dissolve the BSA as a way of exiting the Association.
