The National Third Division League Regional Play-offs that started on August 12, 2017 in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County are now in their advance stage with all eight teams playing each other.

The eight teams are Dahn FC, Atina, Tiaquai FC and Zwedru City FC in Group “B”, God Power FC, Tykon, Apby FC and Gaye FC in Group “A”.

It is aimed at preparing and spotting talented and skillful players for the annual national county meet of Liberia.

According to a communication in possession of Groove 106FM, signed by Jouboty S. Tarley, planning committee chairman, and approved by Victor B. Bruce, chairman of Liberia Football Association (LFA) sub branch in Grand Gedeh County, the county has been selected among other counties to host the national third division play offs in Zwedru.

It was hosted last year in Harper, Maryland County where Waylee FC from Grand Gedeh County and Atina FC from Maryland emerged victorious and qualified for the semi-final in Monrovia where both teams lost.

The communiqué furthered that three club teams will be coming from each of the southeastern counties, except Maryland and the host Grand Gedeh Counties.

Both Gedeh and Maryland have been qualified by the National Football body to register four teams for the competition, while River Gee and Grand Kru are still pleading for participation their failure to organized 3rd division qualification in their respective areas.

Meanwhile, officials of LFA in Zwedru-Grand Gedeh County are now soliciting citizens and philanthropist organizations or individuals in and out of the county for financial support or assistance in kind so as to fully facilitate the upcoming sports festival.

They say the financial assistance will be spent on feeding, logging and transportation for visiting teams, and referees from Monrovia.

However, four teams have been qualified from Grand Gedeh County: Zwedru City FM, Gaye FC, God Power FC and Danh FC.

It is believed that any of the teams that will be qualified from the original play offs will be admitted into the 2nd division league of Liberia through the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
